Press Release:
Death Factory is really excited to welcome PlySpace residents Masha Vlasova, and Meredith Kooi at tomorrow's event. Both artists will be sharing and discussing their work. If anyone has work in progress to share please message us so we have a heads up!
Please come, as always DF is free, but we love your donations to keep it going.
Masha Vlasova works in film, video, sculpture, and installation. She received her BFA at the Cooper Union in 2012 and her MFA from Yale University in 2016. She's a recipient of the Fulbright Fellowship in Film-making, Alice Kimball Traveling Fellowship, and JUNCTURE Art and Human Rights Initiative Fellowship at Yale Law School. This Fall, she'll be starting as an Assistant Professor of Lens-based and Digital Practices at Wofford College in South Carolina.
Meredith Kooi is an Atlanta-based research-, community-, and process-based artist who uses sound, performance, video, and installation, among other mediums to understand the places where she finds herself. She is currently a resident at PlySpace and has had residencies at Wave Farm (Acra, NY), Hambidge (Rabun Gap, GA), and Elsewhere (Greensboro, NC), among others. She is currently finishing up her PhD at Emory University, writing her dissertation titled "the ether swaddles me | you | us: Towards a Feminine Poetics of Transmission Art."
Thank you to PlySpace Gallery for supporting DF.
